After enrolment your Account Details will be sent to the email address you provided. Please check your junk mail folder settings if you do not receive your Account Details after a reasonable amount of time.

Before you can start updating your log, you need to setup TheSWAN so that it can access your account at ThePEARL. To do this you need to edit TheSWAN's config.txt file, find where it says '&pearlID=' and change 'yourIDhere' to the pearlID you were sent in your Account Details (if you are copying and pasting, please check that there are no spaces or carriage returns at the end).

F.A.Q (ThePEARL)
"I did not recieve my account details after I enrolled!"
Check your junk mail folder and settings. If you do not receive your Account Details 24 hours after enrolling you should try enrolling again or contact us.
"Why does my log keep resetting?"
The first time you run TheSWAN it will start your log. Your log is saved when you exit TheSWAN. The second time you run TheSWAN it will reset your log so you can start your log again from the beginning.

It does this because “the button must be pushed every 108 minutes”. Desmond didn't have the luxury of turning the computer off for a few days and then start pushing it again. Your computer must always be on, the timer must always be running on your computer and you must always push the button when it is time.
"What is the difference between the Pearl and ThePEARL?"
There is a Pearl station and there is ThePEARL product that we created. We just write it like this to make it clear what we are talking about.
ThePEARL: Leaderboard Rules!
Enter the code and push the button using TheSWAN every 108 minutes when the alarm sounds. If you shutdown your computer or quit TheSWAN program at any point, your log will be reset to zero the next time you start the program. Harsh you say? Perhaps, but Desmond couldn't stop pushing the button for a couple of days to do something else with his time.

Your number of System Failures are deducted from the number of successfull executions of the code which gives you a score that improves your rank. Users that cheat by using the "set timer value = " or "set station control = cpu" or "start lockdown" commands will be penalised and cannot rank higher then those who have not cheated.

When your score reaches a certain point you will be grouped in to a skill class. The skill classes are based on the duty period that the DHARMA Initiative had originally intended for two people to push the button. For example, pushing the button for 540 days is considerd 100% complete and gains you the "Candidate" class. There are however four skill classes above "Candidate" for those who go beyond the call of duty (these classes are seriously difficult).

A reminder: you need to have enrolled at ThePEARL and setup TheSWAN before you can use the Leaderboard (or Log). Your account name will not appear on the Leaderboard if you selected "Private" when you enrolled.
